The Department of Applied Psychology was established in the year 1967 by Prof. S. N. Roy . At present the Department has a faculty strength of 13 teachers . The department runs the PG level 2 years M. Sc Course and two- one Year duration Self –Financing Courses . One is the PG Diploma in Rehabilitation Psychology Course (RCI approved ) and another is the recently started ( in September, 2006) PG Diploma in Counseling Psychology Course. The total number of books in the Library is almost 4,264. The major research thrust of the Department is on Applied Clinical, and Social Issues, Organizational and Environmental Issues and Test Construction. The Department of Applied Psychology has a Service Program Unit (SPU) with one ‘Clinical and Forensic Psychology Cell’ and another ‘Organizational Behaviour’ and ‘Human Resource Development and Management Cell’. The Unit provides valuable service to the Community at a minimum cost . |
During the period April 2003 to March 2008, the faculty members have worked on about 12 Research projects and financed by UGC, ICMR, DST-WB, UPE Scheme etc. The number of Ph. D awarded is 25. The total number of publications is in X th Plan period was 111 and of conference proceedings is 45. In 2003, the Department has obtained the DST-FIST grant for development of infrastructure. It has now 17 computers, modern biomedical and neuro-physiological instruments and two air-conditioned laboratory. In the last 5 years the Department held one International Conference, two National Seminars four Workshops. |
